Is Petco also going to ban cats and squirrels?

Liberals, lecturing others on how they follow science (probably because it feels good to say that) but they disregard science and follow their feelings instead.

I commend Petco for this move. Only a lazy person needs a shock collar for a dog. We have grown as a society and have learned many ways to avoid using them.

Speaking of dogs, from Upstate NY...

Accused dogfighting ringleader arrested, seven dogs rescued

Check out his record. This guy was running around loose. And now he's free on bail.

An invisible fence for a dog is much more humane than locking the dog in a crate all day.

I got a shock collar for my dog and the very first day I was walking him with it he was going to “investigate” a skunk. Slowly dialing up the current and telling him to come dissuaded him. Thing paid for itself right then.

Don’t use it anymore as now he somewhat seems to pay attention to me.

Never had to use one before.....until our current dog. She’s nuts. She’s 4 now but when she was a pup I bought a shock collar to make her listen. It had a beep on it too. The beep was enough to make her stop and listen.

my plott hound figured out how to get her garmen collar off. she scratches her neck until the end of collar slips the notch pin. lucky she doesn’t leave the yard and I find the collar in the grass.

I tossed magazines, back when they were a popular “read”.

I arced it through the air, and just before it landed, I’d holler, “QUIET!”

It mostly missed the dogs, but “the surprise from out of the ether” trained them well...

;)

As the Director of a Humane Society I can honestly say that there are so many other ways to deal with situations than shocking a dog. The hardest dogs we get to retrain are those that have the fear of getting shocked. Totally changes a dog’s personality.

That's exactly the point. The purpose of a shock collar is to help "train" a dog to obey your commands. I think I had a shock collar on my puppy for maybe four months and then I was able to take it off for good. For the rest of that dogs life, she always came to me when I called and that obedience kept her out of a lot of potentially bad situations.

It's probably analogous to spanking a toddler. If you raise your children right, you never have to spank them again after a certain age. But during those toddler years, it's a very effective technique to get your point across.

Well, it worked for me. Only used a mild shock, and tested it on myself when I first got the collar.

Now they should ban selling dogs. Because frankly, nothing says fear and trauma like being locked up in a cage alone all day, waiting for some human to show up at night and take you for a 10-minute walk.
