A couple of years ago there was a Somali that was recruited by I think state party leaders to run for the legislature in the downtown district. This would have been huge, probably would have won in 2018 and change the entire dynamics of Lewiston municipal politics. But the ‘brain trust’ edged him out of the spot. Then the republican Mayor Bouchard resigned in scandal, and, what a disaster it has been there.
