I’ve been saying it for a while... We have become a very sick society.
I hear you, and I agree with you, and I’ve thought exactly along these lines, and I’ve struggled with the actual best “way out” of this. It seems to me that there are two ways, but they are in tension, and which way to go depends largely on what your end goal is. The first is to stand and fight; not literally (unless you need to), but to oppose the forces that are taking over the country. This would likely be done on a local level, as you have the most influence there. This path, if you choose to follow it, does not end and it is fraught with all manner of conflict. It’s hard to live on this path, but some people are cut out for it.
The second path is to “drop out,” as I refer to it. You’ll recall Timothy Leary’s mantra from the late ‘60s: Turn on, Tune in, and Drop out. Well, Leary was a revolutionary of another stripe, but this mantra can be revised for our purposes: Turn OFF, Tune OUT, and Drop OUT. What does this look like?
Turn OFF: Cut off the channels of insanity that are flowing into your life from the sources of greatest chaos, namely, the media of all kinds. Stop interacting with strangers over devices/screens. And, yes, sadly, it means to stop reading the Free Republic. Stop watching TV altogether, or at the very least, record any programs you want to watch and skip all commercials. Basically anything created in the last 15 years is going to have some leftist bias or agenda (yes, there are exceptions), so choose wisely.
Tune OUT: This is similar to Turn OFF, but tuning out is more for situations that are not within your control. Let’s say you go to the grocery store and someone is in the parking lot pushing their agenda; you just tune them out and move on. Do not engage, debate, attempt to refute, or in any way sanction their position by interacting with them. I think a big part of the issue we have now is that we actively entertain the most ridiculous ideas that the leftists throw out. We actually attempt to consider the idea and whether it has merit; this is a fatal mistake. The mere consideration of it provides a modicum of credence to the idea, which it does not deserve.
Drop OUT: This means to live in a community of people who, at least, will leave you alone, and at best, hold the same values as you do. This may mean moving to a remote or sparsely populated location. Disappear from the dying, chaotic society altogether, if you can.
I would imagine there are many who would disagree with the second path on the basis that it’s essentially avoiding the “real world.” Others would disagree with “handing the country over to the left” without a fight. I understand both of these criticisms, but for some, the first path is madness and would lead to a nervous breakdown.
I would wager some would say I’ve created a false dichotomy here; what about the third path?? Isn’t there some middle road where you just keep living like you always have? Well, friend, most of us are on the so-called “middle road” right now. My analysis says that the middle road is ending in a fork, and I can see the fork just up ahead. There is no middle road after that fork. You will have to choose, and so will I. I still read the news and FR, but I know the day is coming when I will have to choose one or the other.
...And just where are you going to go?

And moving to a safer place...whether a safer state or even a safer country...is out of the question right now. The grandkids are relatively close, and convincing Grandma Moovova to move further away for our own personal safety ain’t happening. I told her I’d give it until the upcoming election and then we’d have to make some series decisions if Trump loses. His winning probably still only gives us four more years of safety.
On the positive side, four more years of appointing federal judges. Trump and McConnell have been crushing it.
If the Republicans lose this election, even the Senate, we are done.
IMHO, that evil thing is Satan and he's having a ball. God's response will be awesome and potentially terrifying.
