The TV series with Alec Newman as Paul was the best.
I saw it first, before I watched the David Lean movie, which I found to be horrible.
Of course, reading the (original) book is a necessary prerequisite to either one, I haven’t met anyone whose first introduction to Arrakis and the Great Houses is the film or the TV series who has come away with any idea what it is all about.
OMG the Berserker series would make an excellent TV show, as would Keith Laumer’s BOLO.
Uncanny ability to take a terrific book and destroy it through film.
Too many lazy minds feel Dune is the book In movie form and they have no idea just how deep and rich and complicated the story is.
Amazon was considering it last year but shelved it.

In the book, Paul was supposed to be early teens... So yeah... Soy Boy actually is more accurate the Kyle’s portrayal...

You know, I really wanted to watch Avatar when it came out, I have a 3D television and Blu-Ray 3D, and was crushed when they dead-ended it. I was really into the graphics. But when I finally did watch it, it was so irritating and nauseating with the whole exploitation by evil capitalists, that I never did buy the 3D disc.
I hate taht BS. And I love the Dune works, really enjoyed reading them, and then...this.

I have never seen and will never see Avatar. Anything “woke” I ignore, because I want to be entertained by movies. Not annoyed, harangued, or preached at, and I won’t reward producers/directors who do so with one thin dime.

How would things have been if Lynch had passed on Dune and done Return of the Jedi?
But the SyFy series (which was great) could not be made today showing the Baron as a predatory homosexual.
I see they re-did “ THE STAND “ and Woopi Goldberg is in it. May not watch it.
I am a huge Frank Herbert fan. I love the psychology and development he put into his characters and plots.
These “changes” utterly ruin key aspects of it.
I’ll still see the new movie. The same way I slow down when I pass a wreck on the highway.

I watched that black panther movie because it was nominated for best picture, I thought most of the new marvel stuff punched above its weight. I swear I belly laughed at least once a minute watching that thing, mostly in parts where I don’t think they intended it to be comedic. I hope Dune is better, I thought Blade Runner 2049 and Sicario were above passable.
