Ignorant, definition:
"lacking knowledge or awareness; uneducated"
(Emphasis mine.)
That line goes on to include "unsophisticated", which I don't think exactly fits, here.
The 2nd line goes on with "lacking knowledge, information, or awareness about a particular thing."
That applies, precisely! "Ignorant" can be specific or general. I, for example, am quite mystified, ignorant, if you will, as to why you do not know the proper definition of ignorant.
Speculation might be that your misfire seems to be a minor snafu in basic vocabulary. It's nothing unusual, really. I've had mine, over the years. ;-)
Granted that most of us, myself included, are ignorant of at least 95% of human knowledge. There is just too much information out there for any human brain to usefully retain more than a tiny fraction of it. Ah, well, at least the web and a large well organized hard drive can help a bit. :-)
However, upon reflection, regarding the posts I commented on originally / found humorous: It does seem a bit unbelievable that almost anyone somewhat aware of what goes on around them in this world does not know in at least a general way that bodybuilders use steroids and long term steroid use has a number of deleterious, though not always obvious externally, effects on health. I suppose I am ignorant of what single word to use to describe someone who willfully ignores or dismisses knowledge they already have. It is probably not any nicer than "ignorant", however. If they just didn't think it through, well, they didn't think, then, did they? I find that rather worse than "ignorant".
Also regarding not thinking things through, it is rather doubtful that "The Rock" would be doing his image much good by claiming to have had a tough time with something that was for him "a sniffle". Therefor it is probable his account is reasonably accurate, and posters claiming he had "a sniffle" should try telling it to his face.
Granted that the more likely problem of that part of it is that some posters probably just didn't bother to read the article. Now we are back to ignorance. Among other things.
Have a great day!
P.S. My apologies for a delayed reply. I'm busy enough anyway, and yesterday a vehicle breakdown stranded me "in the middle of nowhere". Yesterday was NOT a great day for me, except that I finally got home, but, today I try to retain my good humor... Until I see the estimate for the repair, I suppose...
“””At this point, Im simply calling bs. Theyre trying to use big names now to push the mask agenda on us and keep us in fear. The 24/7 media is losing its affect, so theyve turned to celebs. Yawn.”””
BINGO!! Winner, Winner, Chicken dinner!!!
Too many to list! (I suggest web research @ reliable sites if you have particular specific worries for someone.)
However, surely it is general knowledge that bodybuilders use steroids to achieve their astonishing muscle mass, and that long term steroid use brings with it a host of potential negative health repercussions. We also know COVID-19 seems to trigger most any weakness it can find.
Now, I will cite one example, just because I have humorous direct evidence (plural - bodybuilder guy acquaintances from years ago). Specifically regarding “weak as cats” (and PLEASE do not misinterpret my use of the word “ignorant” as another poster so humorously did — see my discussion just above):
There have been so many accounts of severe weakness and fatigue associated with moderate cases of COVID-19 that anyone not knowing this is either isolated, has memory problems, is just oblivious, or is consciously rejecting obvious fact.
However, I would rather expect most people to be ignorant of a more focused piece of info.: Some (perhaps most) long term steroid users have quite poor endurance, reserve, resiliency - whatever one wishes to call it. (This may be specific to certain steroids - I am ignorant on that part of it.) Mr. Bodybuilder can probably pick up your riding mower and carry it across the garage, but don’t ask him to manually push mow 2000 sq. feet in one session.
Now, add that to the more general case of weakness / fatigue among the infected / moderately ill that you describe. IMO, it is quite likely that “The Rock” was a puddle for several days, and I’ll bet he felt like utter crap.
