Let’s supposed McDonald’s thought black owners might be community dynamics. It’s what people are demanding of police.
God-damn it, stop capitalizing black!
Last place you want to eat is a fast food joint that is mandated to hire based on demographics. They survive because they are subsidized, and the only business they get is first/last time customers.
Very few franchise locations are guaranteed to be profitable right from day one, except for the corporation that takes no risk and collects their percentage of sales no matter what and their rent and service fees no matter what. It is a given that a new franchisee will be in the negative for a couple years at least.
Just a remark in passing. There are two Golden Arches locations in York, PA that I patronized when I lived near York. Memory Lane in East York, and S. George St. in South York. I don’t know if they were black owned, but blacks made up the majority of their help and their clientele. I often noted that I was often the only paleface in joint at the time. The always seemed to be doing well.
I’d point to that BK in SF. Nice area, but the city does nothing about the bum problem, so the store closed.
Back in the 1990’s, fewer than 10 McDonald’s had ever failed (I think they started in 1955?). A McDonald’s franchise used to be close to a sure thing. I’m fairly certain in the past few years, hundreds have failed each year.
This is one of my concerns about Trump’s opportunity zones.
In the previous incarnation, they were called “enterprise zones” - not sure when they were started, but they existed through the early Obama years.
Whites could receive aid - dang, was it grants or just loans? Maybe it was just loans. A family member looked into it - the bad part was that you had to locate your business in a depressed area (our redlining bad; their redlining good). The program was designed to fail, and it did.
When I get a chance, I’ll see if I can find some stories about it.
Agreed - we need to stop letting the left manipulate language.
Whenever we see this b.s., add a '(sic)' after either the capitalized 'black' or the lower case 'white'.
Micky D’s is a business in business to make money.
Why would a business set up a store to fail?
And to the franchise owners, there are other fast food companies out there.
Yes, sic.
I dont mind leaving both uncapitalized, but it needs to be consistent.
Of course, to be consistent and brief Ive always believed we should also be saying red and yellow, too.
I’m fairly certain you are wrong, but of course YMMV.
I heard it at an Amway pitch then, and I assumed it was true. I had heard it when I was growing up too....perhaps it was urban folklore...
