Before the national anthem: announcer to say solemnly:

“We acknowledge that kneeling is a timeless tradition of respect and honor. We invite all of you to continue that tradition at this time as we listen to the National Anthem. Please join me in kneeling before God and country as our demonstration of respect and honor of our flag of our great country, and of all the men and women of our Uniformed Services who have given their lives to protect and to defend us. Ladies and Gentlemen, let the National Anthem begin....”

I understand the context of the article, that is unseemly that we who wish to stand have to justify why, and even though I have and will unhesitatingly stand for The Anthem without the need to explain myself, for those too unintelligent, dim, or blinded by their racism or their ideology, I am happy to explicitly state for their benefit:

WHY I PROUDLY STAND FOR THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER, THE NATIONAL ANTHEM OF THE UNITED STATES:

• I stand for The Anthem because I am grateful for the opportunities the country The Anthem represents has given me.
  
  I stand for The Anthem because even with its faults, the country it pays homage to, the USA, is still the freest country on earth.
  
  
• I stand for The Anthem to contrast myself to those who kneel, and do it based on a slanderous lie, that institutionally racist Police are murdering black men in disproportionate numbers for no reason at all.
  
  
• I stand for The Anthem because it reminds me my country rejected slavery and shed blood to eliminate it.
  
  
• I stand for The Anthem because the country it pays tribute to is fundamentally generous and good.
  
  
• I stand for The Anthem because I served under the flag that also represents The United States of America, and took and oath to protect it against enemies, foreign and domestic. Black Lives Matter is a Marxist Domestic Enemy of The Constitution.
  
  
• I stand for The Anthem because the people who kneel for the Anthem do so out of ignorance and/or racist motives.
  
  
• I stand for The Anthem because as an American of any color the major impediment to my success and happiness is me, not my government.
  
  
• I stand for The Anthem because it is a tribute to the country that is the largest and most tolerant multiracial/multicolor country in the world, and I am proud of that.
  
  
• I stand for The Anthem because I am proud that it is the music that people all over the world want to come here and hear as new Americans, and I welcome that as long as they do it legally.
  
  
• I stand for The Anthem because it is MY RIGHT under the First Amendment to do so, regardless of what Black Lives Matter or any other Social Justice or racist organization thinks.
  
  
• I stand for The Anthem because the principles behind the founding of the country it celebrates declare that our rights come from God, not Government, and I do this to contrast myself and the people who kneel for the Anthem who believe our rights come from government.
  
  
• I stand for the Anthem because I am damned proud and grateful to be a citizen of what that piece of music represents-The United States of America.

As an aside:

I stand for The Anthem because, even if all it would accomplish is piss all of you off and distract you because I stand instead of kneeling as you do, that would be justification enough for me.

I not only stand but I come to attention and salute the flag during the National Anthem. As a veteran, I earned the right to salute the flag of the nation that I proudly served.
