Most people won’t need to do this unless you’re famous and are concerned about potential imposters

I think the reason for the spike is because twitter have banned some accounts that had millions of followers.

I’m a participant in the Parler app. At the moment from what i can tell it’s a conservative echo chamber of confirmation bias. It’s all respectful though and informative reading.

There was a simple solution to all of this. Twatter, BoobTube and InYourFacebook, break out their political commentary to separate sites on their platform and let everyone have at it.
Setup a Google Voice account and get a Google Voice number. I've had one for about 8 years now. I used the Google Voice number as my phone# on Parler and it worked fine.
It uses a phone# capable of receiving a text message for confirmation. That's it. Using a google voice# works just fine for that purpose.
So now, Parler has their cellphone number, their driver license info and a selfie of the new member.
What could go wrong...
