I read another article where former players are coming out with stories about how badly they were treated by him. Looks like it’s going the way it did in Iowa.

No apology from the coach, just a statement about meeting with the players, which why wouldn’t he do that? The player did apologize though.
Gundy is one of the biggest IDGAF coaches out there. Standing toe to toe against the like of T Boone Pickens and the OSU administration for years. Winningest coach in OSU history. This time yesterday everybody thought he was all but fired before he ever made a statement. Today he hasn’t even apologized and still holds his job lol. Win.

That player gave OAN probably more notoriety and advertising than they’ve ever had. In spite of exactly the opposite that he was going for. Myself and most of the folks talking about this on sports radio had never heard of the network, think I’ll check it out now.

We had a player call out racism on Twitter here at the University of Iowa One of the coaches lost his job as a result. You can be guaranteed that these issues will run through every major university athletic programs in the next couple weeks. Doesn’t seem like it could get any nuttier, but it will. And for awhile.

Supposedly there was some other stuff that had been bubbling for a while too, and this was the final straw so to speak, but I’m not sure I buy that. This player is far and away their most talented and a top nfl prospect. And he chose to come back to school in Jan instead of go pro. So did a lot of stuff happen between Jan and now? I doubt it. If he had big problems with the coach then why’d he come back?
More than likely he realized what a dumbass he was being about the shirt, and to save face he concocted that there were some other issues.
So to help him save face, the coach met with him, accepted his apology and they both did the photo op reconciliation presser.

Probably would have cost him his career — as in never employable again in his chosen profession. The “Red Guards” have claimed another apology at career-gunpoint. Gundy could always phone Drew Brees to commiserate.
To be fair, Gundy partly does it to himself. Most coaches have some slime about them and can navigate issues before they arise. Coach Gundy has made a career of saying highly volatile things. He just wades right into the sh**. Doesn’t care. Like George Costanza when he’s trying to get the Yankees to fire him.
