Most ,not all, luxury car buyers are attempting to purchase a bit of status. The status value falls quickly with the newer models.
The maintenance costs for high-end euro cars is HUGE!
I was ‘THIS CLOSE’ to buying an M-Class 4wd, I could taste it!
There was one in the lot at work, so I ask around and was introduced to the owner.
CRAZY money! His alternator went out, OVER $1,000 !!!
He said there was nothing on the car that could be repaired for under $1,000, he had the receipts to prove it.
I bought a Ford Expedition instead.
Do all my own work.
Even a lowly VW GTI costs 900+ to change a themosat housing. Why? It’s buried.
The labor charge was about $100, flat rate for one hour.
Ther rest was parts.
