It makes perfect sense. The public schools have been doing such a great job with the money they already have. Let’s give them more.

While they’re defunding the police, they should ban private and parochial schools, and the great bogeyman, home schooling.

Those funds won’t be diverted to schools.

Those funds would be diverted to teachers’ pensions and health bennies.

New York City public schools are the most expensive in America, costing taxpayers $25,199 per student per year, more than twice the US average of $12,201 (see: https://www.census.gov/newsroom/press-releases/2019/school-spending.html). That amount is approaching the tuition fees charged by private colleges.
Where does all the money go? Why would anyone believe that spending even more would help? The article mentions diverting ‘millions’ towards schools but even several tens of millions would be a rounding error against their budget.
