My question is who is going to teach the little munchkins at home? Does the mother automatically have to give up her career to stay home with the kids? What about single parent households? Do they just stay home and go on welfare? I know conservatives think everybody should have a stay home parent, but that is not going to happen. We are way past that, rather we like it or not. I just don’t think homeschooling is a viable option for most families.

I take it you’re just homeschooling because there’s no school right now and you wouldn’t be doing it otherwise , right?

We’re helping our kids with their online learning right now , 10 and 13

That definitely one of the positive outcomes of the epidemic.

"But not all parents are cut out to be home teachers."

Which could lead to a better society with better leadership in a couple of generations, much better than being led by the current class of morons in business and government.

Yes, actually “last day” of school was yesterday. We’re in summer vacation now.

Unless one parent can both work from home and supervise home schooling, many families will have to settle for one income.

The oldest (18) doesn’t give a crap. He just hates school.

There are several ways he can finish his education and be paid while doing so: US Army, US Navy, US Marine Corps, US Coast Guard...

We homeschooled out four. Each kid is different.

The oldest two are very very literate. One is even a book editor for a publisher. The third is the geek of the family. He’s now an Astronatucial engineer.

The fourth is like your 18 year old. He’s very smart, but a hands guy, not a book guy. He’s a trucker and right now helping keep hundreds of men employed in the construction industry

I’m not sending my elementary child to school with a great fear of closeness to other humans. Ain’t happening. It would change their lives forever. Especially since the kids who get covid aren’t very sick at all. It’s like a lingering bad cold.
