I have family and friends who work for the state and county. They are sitting at home doing nothing and still getting paid.

In fairness if you make $100,000 a year then in much of California youre poor. If they are pulling in pensions that means they have been in the state a long time and are likely recipients of nice prop 13 tax breaks. $100K will go a long way if your house is paid for and have $2K property tax bill. Now if your just getting started, $100k ay year will buy you a tent at Rats beach...

In fairness if you make $100,000 a year then in much of California youre poor. Then that would mean about 85 percent of those in the CA private sector are living in 3rd world level abject poverty.

NO! The solution is to let them go bankrupt. They have long been insolvent.

Nothing will ever change politically in California because of the large numbers of people pulling down double- and triple-dipping paychecks from various public tits.
There are enough government employees in CA to keep electing Dems forever.
A federal bailout will only perpetuate and further enable this un-American cesspool.
There should not be a single additional virus dollar sent to CA.
It is the very policies of those in power who have destroyed the state.

I just sent the following message to governor Newsoms office:
Dear Governor Newsom, heres why there is no sympathy for California going bankrupt:
California Is In Trouble 340,000 Public Employees With $100,000 - Paychecks Cost Taxpayers $45 Billion
Let that sink in.
Respectfully,

As a fellow CA resident, I say no Federal bailout dollars to this state.
CA does not need it.
It’s bloated, has enough money to send checks to illegals and give them free healthcare too.
And don’t get me going on the public employees.

No one puts a gun against our head and makes us live here!
Then how the hell do you explain all the people staying there?? Jeez! /funny-sarcasm
The weather, and if you are lucky some great neighbors, church members and good family members living close by.
Also, Prop 13.

I suggest everyone read the Forbes article.
This is why Pelosi’s latest mess of an aid bill will go nowhere. This debt was incurred by the idiot rats running CA. It’s their responsibility and none of our heard earned tax dollars should be used to bail them out.
VERY glad I don’t live in CA.

Actually I prefer that states cannot declare bankruptcy. This way they have to fully pay for their sins, no mater how long it takes. Otherwise they will just steal again.

Simply stop paying teachers, and stop paying government workers during shut-down period. I guarantee the SEIU, AFSCME and the teachers unions will force state government re-openings the next day...I agree.
