It’s just the flu, bro. I learned today that I am a member of a “Fearper” church. Our state is permitting churches to gather again, but my aging church will not meet for the foreseeable future. Will they just shut down forever? What about when flu season comes? The 1st through 3rd century church did not shut down during pestilence. I will be in attendance at some church next Sunday.
No, no, no, questionable.
No one is saying that. The point is that this affliction is no different than ones of the past.
...and it will be counted as a CV death.
I think the constitutional issue is a big one, and we need to have lawsuits as soon as possible contesting the use of a supposed medical situation to completely deprive us our rights and liberty, effectively suspending the Constitution.

Ill stay out of the phylum arguments unless it involves Brachipoda or Bryozoan.
Apparently, not here in Michigan. The governor declared a state of emergency unilaterally (without a vote of the legislature) and can extend it any time she wants. Her edicts have the force of law.
She is a de facto if not de jure dictator.
Michigan Legislature - Act 302 of 1945
The MI governor was acting in accordance with previously passed laws that have her that authority.
Sec. 1.
(1) During times of great public crisis, disaster, rioting, catastrophe, or similar public emergency within the state, or reasonable apprehension of immediate danger of a public emergency of that kind, when public safety is imperiled, either upon application of the mayor of a city, sheriff of a county, or the commissioner of the Michigan state police or upon his or her own volition, the governor may proclaim a state of emergency and designate the area involved. After making the proclamation or declaration, the governor may promulgate reasonable orders, rules, and regulations as he or she considers necessary to protect life and property or to bring the emergency situation within the affected area under control. Those orders, rules, and regulations may include, but are not limited to, providing for the control of traffic, including public and private transportation, within the area or any section of the area; designation of specific zones within the area in which occupancy and use of buildings and ingress and egress of persons and vehicles may be prohibited or regulated; control of places of amusement and assembly and of persons on public streets and thoroughfares; establishment of a curfew; control of the sale, transportation, and use of alcoholic beverages and liquors; and control of the storage, use, and transportation of explosives or inflammable materials or liquids deemed to be dangerous to public safety.
(2) The orders, rules, and regulations promulgated under subsection (1) are effective from the date and in the manner prescribed in the orders, rules, and regulations and shall be made public as provided in the orders, rules, and regulations. The orders, rules, and regulations may be amended, modified, or rescinded, in the manner in which they were promulgated, from time to time by the governor during the pendency of the emergency, but shall cease to be in effect upon declaration by the governor that the emergency no longer exists.
(3) Subsection (1) does not authorize the seizure, taking, or confiscation of lawfully possessed firearms, ammunition, or other weapons.
Kudos for your response. Civil discussion even where we disagree is always a good thing.
Hell no! X 4.
“And I would like idiots not to take away my rights based on bad data.”
... on ANY data (that I can think of right now).
P.B. has been absent for about four days now, I think.
“Behave like responsible adults.”
You mean like crawling out from behind their sofas, going to work, being hygienic like normal, and not whine like little babies? On that, I agree with you.
Your point is well taken my good friend. I stand corrected
You’re not really a man from Tennessee, are you? The men I know here in TN are ... well ... men.
You gave a list of successes as a result of the lockdown. Not one on that list is/was a reason for the lockdown. It was decreed, on the advice of political operatives, allegedly to free up hospitals in in case they were over-run by WuFlu cases — which they weren’t. Except in NYC, hospital employees were sent home because of a dearth of patients.
“I would like to see more emphasis on mask wearing. Still too many without them. We can stop wearing masks when it’s no longer spreading in the communities.”
It must be hell to live life of fear. Truly, I feel sorry for you.
Our church in E. TN resumed services last Sunday, with a few modifications from normal.
Families sat together in groups, and the groups were scattered throughout the sanctuary. (Turns out that having a small congregation in a large building is a GOOD thing.) Where we sat last week will be our “assigned” place for each service for a while, so it won’t be necessary to sanitize each pew, hymnal, etc., each week. No passing of offering plates; the deacons bring them to everyone. No handshaking. (I’m good with that!)
It was suggested that there should be NO SINGING of hymns in services. We sang. Loudly.
My sister attends a church about 15 miles away, and it hasn’t re-opened yet, so they come to ours for now.
I missed that morning when they were teaching in real men class that you should ignore your God given brain and if a deadly contagious disease comes, just go about your business regardless of who you put at risk.
I was reading King Solomon who said:
“The prudent see danger coming and seek refuge, the simple continue and pay the penalty.” - Prov 22:3
I was reading the Apostle Paul who said:
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” - 2 Timothy 1:7
