Norway and Sweden share a common 1,000 mile border, and Sweden has double the population 10-5 million.

The deaths in Sweden are 1580 vs 181 in Norway a ratio of 8.7-1.

While the rates of number of illnesses are about the same the death rate per population is off the charts.

I have no idea why the death rate is so out of skew, but your screed is bullshit, and I'm on your side of the flu issue.

Go search the myriad of articles on the Internet where the States admit they are not accurately tracking COVID deaths. They routinely claim they may be under reporting which means they are not accurately reporting at all.

No, it's what the flubros are claiming the state is doing. The flubros are alleging that if someone dies of a car wreck, the state is claiming it as a corona virus death. Again, overheated hyperbole. The vast majority of coronavirus deaths are actual coronavirus deaths, not something else tagged as a coronavirus death.

I am familiar with such articles. People keep posting them all the time. I just do not believe they are counting car accidents as coronavirus deaths. I believe the amount of error is relatively small, and that the vast majority of deaths are in fact derivative of corona virus.

The normal death rate per day in New York is 145. They are getting two to three times the normal death rate in New York during this epidemic.

They aren't going to have two to three times the numbers of traffic accidents, heart attacks and so forth. They are going to have the same number they have always had, which is around 145 deaths per day from various causes.

The excess numbers of deaths are highly likely to be the result of the virus. It makes no sense to postulate a sudden increase in deaths in New York that happen to coincide with the rampaging virus, but which are not the result of the rampaging virus.

If not the virus, what is causing it then?

Noticing that there is an etiquette required for criticizing Trump policies. I want to get the president to make the right decision, which I believe will help him/us long-term. But others feel that we must carry the water for every decision Trump makes - all in the hopes that if we repeat talking points enough that it will become truth.

The 145 is too low. But I will say it is no more than 180. You have to adjust for the seasonality of mortality. So NYC had surplus deaths...CV kills...but daily variation in deaths is common with the flu too. Also NYC situation shouldn’t be dictating the rest of the country’s policies. You must look at national numbers - and deaths are at 5 year lows.
