My favorite country artist, unlike the wannabe pop/country bands/singers of today. I have 5 cd's of his.

My mom had this on an original 45 and I am wondering if she still has it in her record case, which I am pretty sure she still has stored away in one closet or another.
Interesting to see how it evolved, 1st version no words, 2nd some words, 3rd (Tokens) Lion Sleeps Tonight" added.
Tokens took it to a new level, by far the best version!
In 9th-grade English class Don Otto tapped me on the shoulder and handed me his 45 of The Lion Sleeps Tonight. He said he was so tired of listening to it he never wanted to hear it again.
As for female country; give me Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, over the current pap Shania Twain and Taylor Swift are putting out. Yes, I know they meant to cross-over. Neither of them had a country voice to begin with.
Night wolves moan
Winter hills are black
I'm all alone
Sitting in the back Of a long white Cadillac"
Sometimes I blame it on a woman
The one that made my poor heart bleed
Sometimes I blame it on the money
Sometimes I blame it all on me
Headlights shine
Highway fades to black
It's my last ride
Sitting in the back
Of a long white Cadillac"
I always bookend this with one twenty years later Wondering Where the Lions Are.

I was engaged to an Italian girl in Brooklyn who claimed to have been related to one of the Tokens AND one of the Starlghters (Peppermint Twist). It seems every doo-wop group in the outer boroughs got to get in on the action in that era.
