Carnivals Costa Deliziosa Cruise Ship to Let Off Passengers in Genoa
is headline from 4 hours ago.

To me the passengers were lucky since no reports of covid19 onboard, and they were allowed to come back to their last scheduled port.
Whereas some other round the world ships got stopped and had the passengers fly home from long distances away, under delays quarantines, medical checkups etc. -Tom
I totally get that. My parents were regular cruisers when they were your age. They loved it for the very reasons that you cite. They’re gone now, but if they were still here and contemplating cruising in the age of Covid-19, I could imagine them saying, “Hell, we’re 72/75/80/whatever, and we’re going to live our lives and take our chances, as we don’t have forever” because they did say stuff like that. And it turned out to be true, of course. For most people the 80s are rough. And the 90s are even rougher.
But if you choose a cruise that departs from an American port and returns to an American port is there any legal protection that requires the American port you return to to allow the passengers to disembark? It seems to me that one forfeits one’s legal protections as a citizen when one gets on a cruise line that is not registered in the USA,
Your name must be NORMAN!
I attest that this person is fit to sail on a cruise vacation.
I FORGOT ....this form is for OVER 70 and ABOVE until further notice!!
Try reading my reply.
I simply said a round trip from a US port.
I made no mention of ports of call.

Never heard of Davis Act. The relevant law is here:

Who is Norman ?
I was thinking of the Jones Act.
And 1066 A.D. is the NORMAN CONQUEST!!
Buy a sense of humor!
If you get on a cruise ship with your up to date American passport, and our Govt. hasn't issued a no cruise warning, at the time of your departure, you should have a right to return to this country.
You may be subject to quarantine , depending on the situation.
I am not a lawyer so you can check this out , if you have a concern about this situation.-Tom
NCL is starting to give out some perks as incentives.
You might get a good deal on the NCL "GEM" to Bermuda from Boston.- Tom
April 17, 2020 Dori Saltzman Senior Editor (2:50 p.m. EDT) -- Norwegian Cruise Line has tweaked its "Free at Sea" promotion, including all five amenities for every booking, regardless of cabin category booked. At the same time, the line has scaled back the dining portion of the promotion to reduce the number of included specialty dinners by one, for most cruises...snip

Below I saw this on a cruise website, and will let you know if it comes true as it would effect your May trip. - Tom
COMING SOON: Rumor has it that NCL will be extending their suspensions into June. Watch for upcoming updates
Just got the email NCL cruises cancelled until July 1.
AHH you beat me to it .LOL - Tom
excerpt Orlando Sentinel today-
It may be a matter of time before all cruise lines follow similar decisions, but Norwegian Cruise Line and its sister brands wont be sailing until at least July. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, which also includes Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas, made the decision Friday to extend its suspension of sailings through June 30.
