Fantastic in “A Season in Purgatory” about the 1975 murder of Martha Moxley, he played the murderer’s father who ended up having a stroke when he was found “not guilty”. The movie has since disappeared and is unavailable online probably thanks to the Kennedy’s....
He was also great in “Deadly Matrimony” with Treat Williams..... RIP
Always enjoyed his movies. RIP, Brian Dennehy.
Dudly Moore “Give me a coffee and some amphetamines”
Brian Dennehy “Might I suggest the dining room and your local pusher”
“I’ll have another Double Don!”
R.I.P Mr Dennehy. Loved your sense of humor
Farewell to a great actor and a really nice guy.
Agree they look similar but disagree on demeanor. Always thought Keith had very low-key demeanor. Wouldnt say the same for Dennehy.
WTF do vets lie when they have served honorably. MILLIONS serve without going into a combat zone. Phony soldier/stolen valor sickens me!
Cocoon and F/X were my favorites of his work.
I’m as perplexed as you but perhaps its a personality trait they failed to grow out of as they were growing up. We often have fantasy worlds as kids but part of the growing process is recognizing reality and stop making up stories. Being an actor probably doesn’t help much either.
Yeah a real spooky dude.
Here’s your scene

He should have run for the senate from Connecticut!!!
I found him sometimes intimidating, sometimes disarming, both which speak to his great talent as an actor. Wonder what he was like in real life?
Wow that’s it! Whew oh wow is that spine chilling, probably that one scene alone explains the mentality of serial killers more than anything else, they get off sexually from it. When the kid says he can’t get out of the handcuffs Dennehys whole demeanor changes, and then the kid says “please” and you can see Dennehys get aroused. That is some unreal acting.
Chaminade HS graduate
Meaning?
Chaminade HS graduate...in Dayton, OH?
Mineola NY
Based on my growing up in Dayton, OH, no doubt the NY school is a branch of Dayton’s Chaminade HS. :-)
Back in the day, Dayton’s Chaminade was a Catholic all-boys HS who would hold dances with Julianne, a Catholic all girls HS.
Those Catholic girls had quite the wild side that was always exciting to explore.
RIP, Brian Dennehy.
Another good movie of his, this time as a good guy, is “Last of the Finest”.
Charles Durning is always great.
I’ll always remember him as a liar...
The award-winning actor has raised red flags numerous times during his career for falsely claiming he served in Vietnam. While Dennehy was a Marine for four years, he was never in combat during the Vietnam War, a fallacy he admitted in 1998.
I lied about serving in Vietnam and Im sorry, Dennehy is quoted as having said. Writer B.G. Burkett, who made a career of unmasking phony military service claims, outed Dennehy in his book Stolen Valor.
