Shut off NY? That ship (and plane, train, and auto) has long departed, taking the infestation at the hottest infected area in the nation to (probably) every state.
In no time at all, the size of the circle around Miami is going to be bigger than the one around NY.
Very likely the screamer on this thread is made of the same DNA.
Do you think he would have a shot at being confirmed by the senate? Also after the Kavenaugh hoax would he be willing to expose his family to the democrat lying machine?
Fantastic!!!!!!!!! Brilliant!!!! Hallelujah!!!!!
“People want to get back to work. Thats who we are. Laying around just passing time is simply awful. “
My brother is very worried. He could loose his house and cars... He wants to work. This is killing his business.
I’d say wait and see the details he proposes, if he does indeed propose them, before completely jumping ship.
I’m pretty much exhausted by the discussion, but since you asked a reasonable question..
Yes, I’ve (of course) compared the CURRENT number of CV19 deaths to the flu.
Have you or any of the other posters who keep comparing this to the flu done any research on projected infections (at least a dozen credible studies I can think of put that number at 40-70%), percent to be likely hospitalized (15-20, 20-”something” - Anthony Fauci), and number of ICU beds needed? Forget projected deaths, that are currently in excess of 4% worldwide.
Do the math - it works out at even 1% CFR (wildly optimistic) to 2.2M dead. ICUs at 10X capacity. Hospital beds at 20, 30, 40X capacity.
Cuomo just this morning gave a very compelling summary of what NY is facing, and it’s very much in line with those numbers. EVERY CITY will be a NY in the next weeks and months.
Just once it’d be nice to have a discussion here without all the personal attacks. I really do think we have a lot of Freepers in denial and the reaction is to attack those of us who HAVE done the research or ARE listening to people like Cuomo with actual data - vs. nothing beyond empty opinions.
With that said, I’m done arguing the point. I gave my OPINION about Trump’s decision to re-open the economy and am not going to re-litigate that point and am really taken back by all the personal attacks for simply voicing an opinion. Disagree if you want. But please drop the cheap shots and snark. It’s not appropriate whatsoever for what USED to be a decent forum where reasonable people discuss things politely.
Have a nice evening.
Well, unless you have an ulterior motive, thats not what he said. If you dont care to know the truth, vote for Biden or Bernie and enjoy.
Youre going to be so disappointed with how you behaved on this forum when its all over. Have a nice day.
Glad to know....
Good post..
...But Freepers seem to be concerned with mass suicides due to job loss. I assume the reason is that people would be despondent over loss of their income.
If the .gov is PAYING that income for 4 months (NOT THAT I AGREE THEY SHOULD), the premise that well have all this total collapse due to peoples ability to cope financially is not supportable.

Jeez, you really ARE hopeless, arent you. I guess the Opioid epidemic sweeping our rust belt escaped your closed mind.
And you lack all discernment if you think many months of hundreds of millions of people CONSUMING wealth while not PRODUCING wealth will not be destructive. Like a persons body, if elements of the economy are not used, they get weaker .... OR ACTUALLY DIE. But I guess youre likely involved in a job that doesnt actually produce wealth but merely redistributes wealth... MAYBE GOVERNMENTAL BUREAUCRAT.
OK, carry on with your DEFEATISM and you FRANTIC HYSTERIA.
You only have yourself to blame.
Don't blame nobody but yourself...
So when are you giving your OPUS...?
I asked nicely that the personal attacks stop.
We USED TO be able to post our opinions on FR and discuss them reasonably.
You can agree or disagree. But let’s not become DU or Yahoo, OK?
And please don’t expect everyone to have the same opinion as you.
That’s what USED TO make FR great. I’m kinda wondering nowadays, though.
I. CAN. NOT. BELIEVE. YOU. COULD. NOT. BELIEVE. what you were hearing from him during the townhall.
> I am not convinced WHATSOEVER that a down economy costs lives.
YoU’rE jUsT sTuPid then. You haven’t even followed the new over many years about declining life expectancies among white people in the US.
So just shut up. Stay inside if you want.
I doubt you are even taking proper precautions amid your insanity.
Not everyone is going to get govt money.
Inflation will kill jobs.
A bad enough crash will weaken the military and increase domestic strife. There are some really bad scenarios possible.
You’re just uninformed and F.O.S. in general. You lack insight and understanding.
Please add me to that list.
So, investing in the market (which I suspect 75+% of Freepers do as we tend to be self supporting vs. living off the .gov freebies) is something that is somehow “blameful”?
FWIW, I was not anywhere near 100% in equities. But I did own “some”. And some bond funds, which unexpectedly are getting hammered for different reasons. That’s very atypical as bonds USUALLY increase when interest rates drop, and when stocks tank.
Wow, you guys are really on a roll tonight. Now you’re attacking posters for even commenting on the market route that MOST OF US have felt together since late Feb.
Nice.
