Maybe it’s like when the clothing manufacturers make you take the full range of sizes. Why there are only the tiniest sizes on sale at the end. Someone in the rag trade explained it to me one time. Most of the items are in the middle of the size range, but you have to buy in groups of twelve, including the large and small end; you can’t pick and choose sizes.
Why those groups of twelve are not representative of the public, I dunno. Maybe they make more profit on the little sizes, less fabric involved.
Petite women make out like bandits at sale time.
You want Wheaties, Mr. Store Owner, you gotta buy raspberry jam coated corn twists too.
Just guessing.

New York is becoming a ghost town.
Just saw all these pipes in big wooden holders outside the door to my apartment. What now!
Oh. Then I saw the name attached to them. The organist is leaving town. I never knew he had a pipe organ in his apartment, but I’ll bet his close neighbors did.

Ha! Thanks for a little bit of levity.

I stocked up on two for one cans of chili toward the beginning. If this thing lasts months and months, were going to be so tired of chili. And your house will smell so bad that nobody will bother visiting you without a mask.

Keep seeing metabolic syndrome in all of these stories. People need to begin restricted eating now. BMI is a poor predictor however for insulin resistance in elderly people.
We have done a disservice to people by categorizing any insulin resistance as pre-diabetes. Joseph Kraft has called this out numerous times. Pre-diabetes is diabetes.

Is quinine another name for that malaria drug that shows promise to treat it?

I think the Imperial Report can go stick it.
FD: I’m not a FluBro. I do understand the seriousness of the situation, but we’re making efforts to stop that from happening. The panic mongers can drop dead, as far as I’m concerned.

Have their legal department review the firms liability position, concerning staff with personal medical issues. Seek their findings on this point in a written response. The firms legal department may have a different take when receiving the request versus a local managerial office.
What are they offering in hazard pay? Big demand for nursing staff to ensue with this outbreak. They might suffer considerable attrition based on recruitment $$. Head hunters are active now.

Yep, when I was buying extra cans of beans prior to the country as we know it dying, I avoided most or all of the pintos. They’re good occasionally, but if I’m quarantined with lots of pintos, I would rather starve.

And diabetes, which usually goes hand-in-hand with obesity.
Usually is an important qualifier. 33% of the elderly have a condition where they are thin outside and fat inside (TOFI). The Kraft test should be used more often in diagnosis for this. I believe this is the primary cause of elevated coronavirus risk factors in seniors.
This is not obvious with BMI measures, however can be diagnosed quickly with basal metabolic rates (BMR) and whole body segmental impedance measurements. DEXA scans can also be used, but are more expensive, time consuming and complicated.

Yes.
The British living abroad, over the years, survived many an epidemic, esp. malaria, by drinking large quantities of gin and tonic.
Tonic is watered down quinine.

Not exactly. Chloroquine and Hydrochloroquine are similar to Quinine and both are used to treat malaria. I’m not sure quinine has actually been used against CV19, but chloroquine and hydrocloroquine have. Some people might interchange the names. I know in the navy, when the docs told us they were giving us quinine, they actually gave us chloroquine.
