My wife is further freaked out by this.

It’s more of Trump’s diabolical plan to become a dictator, fascist state, etc, etc.

We have no kids.

You can’t expect parents to feed their own children, can you?

Sad thing is, at the rural school my grandson attends, 70 percent are on free lunch vouchers. That and I am sure there is a percentage of those students whose only nutrition comes from the school.

A grant has been offered to provide free meals (two a day) for children to be picked up or delivered by school buses. Buses will also be used to deliver WiFi sources to some areas and some buses will deliver instructional materials.

It was easy to see that this was coming as public schools were being shut down.

Many if not most schools are basically day care and feeding centers and not learning centers.

“Many if not most schools are basically day care and feeding centers and not learning centers.”

Whatever they’ve become, the schools are nothing like what I went to in my public school years. I was fortunate to go when getting an education was still the objective.

I went through SC school system in the 70s and 80s.

They wouldn’t close for anything then.

School was a joke 8th grade on.

I used to deploy computers to different SC school districts.

It was contractor stuff but during the time of the wun, I was grateful to get that.

Anyway I caught some of what passed for classroom instruction. Comical.

It has been the same in California for decades.

The parents of our grandkids sacrificed and took their kids out of public schools and sent them to excellent private schools.

Unfortunately, very true.

Interesting article posted here on FR:

Coronavirus has parents looking at homeschooling.

If we don't allow the liberals to destroy our economy/country, what you posted below could be our new reality:

Whether a child is facing bullying, a challenging medical condition, or a unique family situation (such as frequent military reassignments), learning at home can provide an immediate and customized solution. And homeschooling doesn’t have to be a stop-gap measure. In fact, millions of students have discovered how home education empowers them to thrive.
