I see a lot of tough talk in this thread. Most of which, though morally right, would be guaranteed to land you in jail and likely ruin your life.

I’m betting that even if you just turned the garden hose on the *trespassers* - they are illegally on your property - I think it is likely in LA you’d be charged with simple assault.

Face it folks, we have to carefully consider how we deal with these people in public because in most cases we are at a serious legal disadvantage. Bad laws enforced by complicit police and corrupt prosecutors, but that’s the reality we confront when defending ourselves against these fascist scum.

I’ve seen the resurgence of that State Farm commercial but not with a black guy. Also Geico is bringing back some of their good commercials. Why not recycle them? They were for the most part good and non-irritating.

Jake changed his color - not his gender, I guess.

Charged with what?

Charged with whatever someone who is NOT married to the DA would get charged with.

In LA, that might be attempted murder....

</sarcasm>

Lack of integrity? No, I have common sense. You want to put your freedom in the hands of a court or other people you go ahead and open your door and shoot people on your porch and see what happens. I don’t care where you live, unless they are inside your home you better be able to prove to a jury discharging your weapon was an absolute last resort. Locked inside your home while some crazies are ringing your doorbell does not qualify opening the door and engaging them.

If that happens it needs to be appealed all the way to the SC.

Appeals to the Supreme Court cost big money, well beyond the reach of most citizens, unless they are very wealthy. As has been said, "the process is the punishment". And that is even when you may be acquitted of all charges.

In this case, the homeowner was Black, and the "mostly peaceful" mob of protesters gather on his front porch at 5:50am with their bullhorns, were White. He will probably get off with a sternly-worded letter of reprimand and an assessment for minor court costs. This time. Nothing will happen to any of the protestors.

California now runs on "Pretense-of-Law".
