That is why my default position when reading the media (print, film, or video) is that they are not telling the truth, and at best, a few kernels of it to give their point of view some ‘alleged’ creds. Disregard it, and if it is important enough, try to separate the few kernels and form your own opinion. By your question, you are knowledgeable enough to understand the seriousness of issue. However, chances are if you wanted to spend the time to vet it, you could read follow up to what happened after the event itself...
