At least it’s still winter.

I’d die if I’d have to wear that crap again in the heat.

OOOPs spelled it wrong. I found it on Amazon. Says next delivery available Feb 20-March 12. $27.99 a bottle.

Looks like the active ingredient is ambroxol. Now we just need to find a name brand over the counter with it in the USA.

Drugs.com has a list of the countries it’s available in, and under what names: https://www.drugs.com/international/ambroxol.html

Unfortunately, the US is not on that list. It might be possible to have it shipped here, but I don’t know enough about customs laws to be sure.

Wiki has an interesting writeup on it as well:

“It is the active ingredient of Muciclar, Mucosolvan, Mucobrox, Mucol, Lasolvan, Mucoangin, Surbronc, Ambolar, and Lysopain.”

You beat me to it

Teach me to have a bunch of tabs open.

I’m off to see if this has any real basis in fact.

Careful with any sort of med/supplement ordered on Amazon.

Lots of reports of counterfeits out there, in the marketplace.

We just need someone to run across the border and grab us some Ambroxol!

Somewhat similar to Guaifenesin but effects deep in lungs.

Also research NAC (N-acetyl cysteine) for similar treatment objective.

I think the issue might be once your lungs have stuff in them you can’t get it to come back out (coughing it up).

Guaf might not be effective against this if it’s essentially concrete.

Silly question, but would standing on your head help drain the lung fluids. Thinking of a hospital with a rotating strap on bed. Or perhaps just lying with your head below your feet might help ?

That’s an interesting question.

I prefer to sit and sleep upright and take copious quantities of guaf to break up the crud so I can cough it up. It was so bad about 10 years ago (from season allergies) I kept a garbage can (plastic) with 1/2 bleach in the bottom to spit what I was coughing up. I was a mess.

Probably works similar to Mucinex - anything that helps rid lungs of phlegm so Oxygen can be processed works against the real threat - pneumonia

I’m looking up other expectorants as well, including some herbal ones.

I know Gumweed (AKA Grindelia) is supposed to be a powerful expectorant. I haven’t had experience with it myself, but people who have often say they were amazed at how well it worked. Some even said their lungs were clearer than before they got sick.

Pleurisy Root and Mullein are both good against infections effecting the lungs. Mullein has the advantage in that it can be inhaled as an incense as well as being taken internally. That makes it easier to give to patients who are having trouble swallowing or keeping things down. (Needless to say, don’t fill the room so full of smoke that they choke on it. A little bit will do!)

I’ll keep researching, though. This is how I deal with stress. I research the dickens out of stuff.

If the fluid is thin enough, it might. But with a lot of illnesses, the fluid is thick and sticky. It would be like trying to drain Silly String.

Having your head below your feet for long periods would be uncomfortable, but having your head below your rib cage might not be as bad, and would have the same effect on the lungs.

I have some back exercises that result in that, and I can’t say I’ve noticed any effect on my lungs. But I’ve also never tried it when my lungs were congested, either.

If you decide to test that method, please let us know whether or not it works.

If I get that flu, I will. Thinking you lie on your stomach, with your head above a breathing hole. Like a massage table. Then your feet side are lifted high. Dont forget a bucket. Lol.
