To call witnesses at this phase of the impeachment trial is a judgment call as to the productive outcome for Pres Trump. After squeezing out as much perceived damage to Pres Trump as they could, the democrat leadership declared themselves winners and gifted themselves with gold fountain pen trophies. Why should the Republicans bother to now accommodate them by doing the job they refused to do? There is every reason to expect that calling witnesses will further prolong wasting the time of Republican senators by stringing this democrat circus along until next Nov.
