It has to do with the senate rules. Pelosi is trying to play it fast and loose by malicious compliance to the Senate rules. The “fix” for this situation is to change the Senate rules. That can’t happen until the Senate comes back to session.

I’m not so sure about flushing this impeachment trial
anymore unless testimony from any of the Demo witnesses
can be devastating. Maximum public exposure is what we
want if the Trump exposure potential is low and Biden
can be dragged into the swamp he helped create.
Imagine the questions the GOP attorneys could ask of
Biden regarding Obama. You may suggest that same info
could be gleaned from future Durham and Bill Barr
generated trials but we don’t even know if those will
happen or how successful the MSM will be at tamping
down the swamp clearing trials we all pray for.

“Levin: What the hell are Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans waiting for?”

Maybe to be back in session?

There is a standing Senate rule that says, “Impeachment trials can only start when the Articles of Impeachment have been presented in person to the Senate”.

To change the rules the following must happen.

(1) The Senate have to be in session, not just gavel it in, then gavel it out, like they are doing at this moment.

(2) To change rules, Senate Majority Leader needs 51 votes. There are several Senate members that could possible NOT vote to change the rules.

So, with only about 53 votes or so republican, the Turtle needs all, if not most of the Republicans to vote to change to rules. That prob will not happen.

So that is why we are at a standstill at this moment.

“Levin: What the hell are Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans waiting for?”

Well, Mark:

1. First, nothing can be done until the Senate reconvenes on Jan 3, 2020, so there’s been no actual “waiting” yet.

2. In the mean time, the US Senate has left Nancy twisting in the wind ...

3. No doubt, when the Senate has decided Nancy has twisted in the wind long enough and she continues to try to bend the Senate to her will, the Senate will proceed with a trial on their own volition, which is the Senate’s Constitutional prerogative.

So, Mark, in summary, it’s a bit premature to get your panties in a wad ...
