“The student body is 47 percent white, 20 percent Hispanic, 14 percent black, 9 percent Asian and 10 percent other. “
According to Wikipedia, NYC is 45% white, 27.5% Hispanic, 25% black, and 12% Asian.
I’d say the whites are right in line with their numbers, the blacks are clearly under-represented, but then what percentage of them even make an effort to get into the school (and much of the reason they don’t even try is cultural - they are viewed as ‘sellouts’ in their communities...it’s not even due to capability). Similar with Hispanics (I know of a case myself), so their under-representation makes sense.
But Asians are, as usual, the ones getting screwed big-time. They would likely be 50% of that school if admission was simply based on academic performance. I dream of the day when Asians get sick of having their kids treated like dirt and start FIGHTING BACK, but I have yet to see any effort by them.
‘I wish I were teaching a class there, because anyone boycotting my class would get an F.’
And you would likely be fired for discrimination - for sure if you are - GOD forbid WHITE and /or a MALE!
My daughter was 3rd in her graduating HS class. The 1st , 3rd, 6th and 31st ranked students applied to Duke University. They picked the 31st rack student. She was a muslim...nuf said! Only one picked in the school to go to Duke that year. Normally they pick 2-3 from this highly ranked HS....

= 109.5%
However, I mostly agree with your post.
Getting into Yale and Harvard id hard. Staying in them is a lot easier according to a friend whose daughter went to Harvard. Oh and poor Appalachia Native American ancestry
For another example, my wife asked me this morning to look for a book our 13 y/o daughter wants, titled "Ghost Boys".
"Twelve year-old" Jerome is shot by a police officer who mistakes his toy gun for a real one. Now a ghost, he sees how life unfolds without him."
Go to Amazon and the reviews are even more depressing - the narrative is all about racism and police brutality. There's not one mention of the vastly greater numbers of blacks killed by other black civilians, whites and Asians killed by blacks, and so on.
Don't get me wrong - I recognize that LEOs are human and some make mistakes, some willful or even maliciously willful, and more by (as a group) accident, Murphy's Law, and / or poor training. These result in tragic injury or death to individuals of all races: Blacks tend to get the worst of this simply because the crime rates in far too many black neighborhoods are so hideously high. And, blacks are often used by those with agendas and such in many of these cases, whether or not malevolence by the police was present or not, to make it appear malevolence occurred. Whites and Asians, not so much. Who protested in the streets when that unarmed young white man, sobbing and begging for his life, crawling on the floor, got gunned down by police in that hotel corridor a couple years back?
In any event, malevolence and / or racism by the police toward citizens is not the primary problem in most policing errors. Further, malevolence by police toward blacks is much less common than malevolence by blacks toward police, and books like "Ghost Boys" make the situation worse. The police (maybe the police unions) really need to go on an aggressive and widespread PR campaign, on TV and Internet, pointing out the facts, and those who support LEO's when they are right (most of the time) need to support them too. Even President Trump should spit out some of the statistics now and then.
Which brings me to an idea: While I realize space is limited, a "sticky" here on FR (ie., a post like the HTML Sandbox) that keeps current* statistics on policing (casualties by and for), with solid references & links to such, etc., readily available to those attempting their own support, discussing with friends, coworkers, online, and so on, would be a great resource.
*I'd define current statistics as those for the USA for the past 5 (or 10) years, say, 2014 - 2018.
At this very moment, I'd really like to have for discussion with others (mostly not FReepers) without doing hours I don't really have for research:
Total # of casualties* by LEOs, not including other LEOs (friendly fire) and suicides.
*Individuals in the USA killed or injured (seriously enough to be admitted to a hospital or included in a well documented report somewhere.)
# of black casualties* by LEOs, not including other LEOs (friendly fire) and suicides.
# of LEO casualties by blacks, not including suicides (such suicides rare but not impossible).
Rate of black casualties by blacks. (I.e., # of black casualties divided by the population of blacks in the USA.)
Rate of black casualties by whites. (I.e., # of black casualties divided by the population of whites in the USA.)
Rate of white casualties by blacks. (I.e., # of black casualties divided by the population of blacks in the USA.)
Rate of white casualties by whites. (I.e., # of black casualties divided by the population of whites in the USA.)
Others may think of additional ways to present the data. Supporting graphs might even be useful.
