Eisenhower’s military-industrial complex speech covered the topic as well, including a warning about a scientific-technological elite that would get out of control:

Thanks for the link...I wonder what can be done?
That’s what we have here in Calixuela thanks to Term Limits. The politicians are props. The state is being run by breaucRATS and lobbyists. Those are the final resting places of politicians after they’ve put in their time in The Assembly and Senate. If they don’t go on to DC, that is.
Then, apparently, he had one forced upon him in 1980 or so.
I couldn’t understand why that one was picked. They were always against one another, from what little I saw.
I saw RR get out of the limo across the street from my work place back in 1976. Only time I saw him even that close.
Shocking! Government is too enormous and should be whittled down.
When viewing a little of the Impeachment hearings, one thought traveled throughout:
WTP were paying THOUSANDS for the group of people sitting on their butts, drinking coffee, and hearing the lies being spewed throughout the day. WE paid for that and it’s time we STOPPED the check. How many staffers and what is their salary? So many people to push a pencil, nod the head. Just to appease the elites and keep them happy and their life running smoothly.
Iran-Contra sure sounds like a CIA plan to setup Reagan after what we have seen with Trump.
The problem with Eisenhower was he was part of the problem. Eisenhower’s massive taxes is what got Reagan interested in running for office.
Mark Levin with whom I often disagree on some things sharply
Coined the Administrative State long ago
The mere fact that there are intelligence agencies that spy on American communications and use that information against those Americans is enough to say there is a Deep State, a shadow government.
I've never thought about term limits in that context before...thanks.
Answer (from a previous post).
Patriots need to understand THEIR Constitution. The Constitution is the ONLY legal bulwark of freedom against the tyranny of the feds. A basic understanding of the Constitution is that THE PEOPLE AND THE STATES VIA THE CONSTITUTION delegated and enumerated certain specific and limited powers to the feds. If it is not a specific enumerated power listed in the Constitution, then it is a power the feds have no legitimate or legal right to.
If we are to recover our Free Constitutional Republic, we must do whatever it takes to stuff the feds back into its constitutional cage.
The first step is reading and understanding the Constitution as written and originally understood and intended.
The second step is understanding how the feds through rogue, unconstitutional Court decisions have departed from the limitations and restraints of the Constitution.
Patriots have some homework to do.
Eisenhower knew the mistakes he made—and was warning all of us of a dark future.
Sometimes you need to fail in order to learn.
At any time the people could wake up
However. Were still free.
Its just that folks here in California are stupid enough to keep voluntarily voting Democrat, including my lovely dear wife
The unions are very strong here and can destroy initiatives obviously like they did with Governor Schwarzenegger but they cannot completely control the elections
Theyve done a damn good job though however
I don't ever recall RR talking about the deeps state while he was President...do you?
The federal govt needs to be whittled down to almost nothing. Cut off the money flow and kill the beast. Stop the equality civil rights ect push. And let America and the state’s decide how the operate.
Not right off. I was pretty busy with school and work that decade and the one following.
The only thing I remember is that the two of them seemed to hate each other. When the VP candidate slot was filled I mentioned it to a couple of people around me. I couldn’t believe he was going with that guy.
I just found it very surprising.
Welcome.
