RE: Because it isnt true but it would have been a really good scene to put in the movie.
He did register for the draft in 1948. So, he’s not exactly a peacenik.

“Creepy” is a chick word, a nonspecific term designed to scare normal men into carefully staying in the lanes of chick world. Mr. Rogers wasn’t creepy. He was a decent man, and a minister.

Well, hey, Mr. Rogers was fluffy and nice. Especially for 3 and four-year-olds. But then one becomes Five years old, and has to grow up.

I saw it last night with the family, very very very good movie, very moving and the best I’ve seen all year. Tom Hanks as usual was fantastic.

He wasn’t creepy. Joe Biden, now THAT is creepy. Rogers on the other hand was a gentle soul who was an ordained minister whose mentor was child psychologist Margaret McFarland who he collaborated with for over 30 years. A lot of kids from broken homes found solace in Mr. Rogers TV show me included. He was the dad I wish I always had instead of the screaming abusive psychopath that was mine.

I just started trying to watch this on Hulu and was immediately put off by it. Who would write a story of adult anger and resentment issues within a children's show format?! This is more Hollywood trash!
