You misunderstand. Those many heretical sects are spreading because people are listening to their personal opinions rather than seeking to understand God’s Word in the scriptures and His Will as revealed to us through worship, instruction and reflection by the Holy Spirit.

Those seeking to understand God’s Word in the scriptures, etc., without exception FORM opinions regarding what the scriptures reveal to them and on the instruction they are given. That is simply axiomatic and therefore I submit it is you who misunderstand.
There is no possible opinion contrary to God’s purposes that will find favor with God. It is a complete waste of time to assert one’s superior wisdom over scripture, as the poster upthread did by claiming that he didn’t believe the church should do this or do that, blah, blah; when in fact the priest’s actions aligned completely with a) scripture and b) the RCC catechism. God prizes our search for truth, which does not exist in self-congratulation, but in Him, and Him alone.
NO....it’s about an even split (slightly higher numbers for the dissidents/uncatechised) between those who actually practice their faith and those who practice what THEY want.
