The Gwinnett Strippers (Braves) AAA cannot draw enough fans and are consistently the lowest in all of AAA baseball in attendance.
They have great talent, even won their division this year. The front office is a mess and needs to be fired. I live 5 miles from the park and the only time I go is when my son’s friend gives me free tickets or it’s bobblehead night.
The recurring issue raised in this piece is the quality of facilities. What is the problem? For baseball, you need a big, open field with no potholes, so players don’t get injured while chasing a ball. Then you need a shovel to throw up a mound to give the pitcher an advantage (let’s get rid of the mound!!!!), and you need a bag of chalk to mark the lines. That’s it. Everything else is an amenity that you could live without. If a minor league team with a low amenities park is paying its bills, what is the problem?
