So dating is becoming a luxury item like marriage. Dinner and a movie no longer is enough. I wonder how much of this is due to shows like "The Bachelor" where "courtship" involves over the top and expensive "dates".

How much did that cell phone cost again? Color me a bit skeptical.
To: C19fan
Well, if they voted for politicians that provided an environment for them to have good paying jobs, then this might be different.

Wow what a LAME EXCUSE. Grabbing a pizza and watching a movie at home is too expensive? Oh, I guess since they live in Mom and Dad’s basement, that wouldn’t be cool..... what a bunch of pathetic losers.

If they didn’t spend all their money on Netflix, huge cell phone plans etc. maybe they would have a few bucks for dinner and a movie.

That is the stupidest premise I’ve ever heard. Heck, I was married before my wife and I had any money.

a quarter of respondents even said they would happily have sex with a human-like robot A quarter of respondents are virgins?
That's the only way I can imagine such stupidity...

Oh c’mon. I bet half the dates my now wife and I went on were between $10-$20, if they weren’t free, because we were just enjoying spending time together. Lousy excuse.
To: C19fan
I thought people were “hooking up”, not dating.

When I dated, “Dinner and a Show” was McDonalds and “Hawaii Five-O”.

Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders soon to promise a Federal dating subsidy for millennials.

Exactly. Dating costs a heap these days. If you do it, you can’t afford that new cell phone. I’m a millennial (I’m sorry to admit) and I know quite a few people who don’t date for various reasons, chief among them being money. It’s cheaper these days to just MGTOW
Lucky for me I’m married so I’m not a part of the statistic
To: Billthedrill
Right?!?
Not much money left after manicure/pedicure, botox, $350/month car payments, eating out at $10/meal 8 or 10 times a week, send out the laundry, etc., etc.
If they had to live the way we did (or, more so, our parents) they would not be able to cope, IMHO.

Oh pahlease!
They’re staying single because millennial chicks are F-ing flakes who would much rather hang out with their transgender “guy” friends!

The "dinner and movie" dating model is so...well, outdated and cliche.
Dates do not need to involve money. Go on a hike in the woods. Walk along the beach. Go to a museum (many are free). Go to the public library. Or a free outdoor concert that most bigger cities have during the summer.
To: Menehune56
Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders soon to promise a Federal dating subsidy for millennials. With the stipulation that they have to date whomever they choose, which could be either gender.

This article is BS on its face. It doesn't cost money to date. Anyone remember college? It DOES cost money to get married, though.
All that is required for dating is the desire, and I suspect THAT is the problem. Millenials are the most mixed-up, indoctrinated, gender-bending generation of all of them. They have suffered the full brunt of the left-wing, PC, anything-goes BS, and are lost in a sea of nonsense and confusion because of it. They don't have the slightest clue how male-female relations are supposed to work. Plus, who would want to date some purple-haired, nose-ringed, fatty feminist?
From what I've seen though, the younger ones may be rejecting a lot of that nonsense. We'll see.
