1). Why are they taking a field trip to a mosque?
2). What happened to kids these days that they would follow such an instruction?
ELCA, I presume?
Funny, I graduated High School in 1977 and took a class called "Bible as Literature" where we studied the stories in the Bible such as the trials of Daniel, etc., and another called "Comparative Religions" where we were introduced into the beliefs and practices of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, ancient Greeks, and ancient Romans.
There is nothing, I repeat NOTHING wrong with teaching ABOUT different religions in school.
There is a HUGE problem with indoctrinating student into a religion.
There is also nothing wrong with respecting the customs of a religion when you are a guest in their place of worship.
Douglas County, Colorado. Suburbs southwest of Denver. 6th Congressional Distrct, formerly represented by Tom Tancredo, one of the most conservative members in the House. Now represented by a Democrat Jason Crow. One of the 40 seats that flipped last year.
My question is if they are visiting a mosque, are they also visiting a church, synagogue, Buddhist temple, or any other house of worship? And if not, why not?
I have no issue with the dress code. People should dress appropriately in church. Women wear headscarves at our church (Russian Orthodox) though sometimes among younger women, the hemlines can be a little high and the shoulders might not be covered. And then the older Russian ladies give them dirty looks!
The girl on the left is a towel head, literally. Wonder if they told them what was about to happen to their private parts?
My kid would never have that experience.
