There isn’t much left of East ST. Louis, lL. The really bad part is North ST. Louis.
I’ve always liked St. Louis. Toured the Cahokia Mounds site a couple years ago. But I remember getting lost driving through East St. Louis in 1972, on the way to visit a couple friends who had started a pre-med and a nursing program at SLU, at around 2 AM. Got stopped by a friendly police officer who told me how to get across the river and instructed me to do so ASAP. Scary as Gary.
