Alice went on vacation with Sam the butcher.

Poor Alice. I don’t think she ever got a real vacation.

Funny, i was thinking of a buddy’s “adventure” just a few hours ago.

Another friend owns land in the middle of nowhere on a mountain in NH and we camped there a lot.
My bud Mike likes to pitch his tent way off from the rest of us.
After drinking all night he decided to call it a night.
it was so frigging dark out he got lost.
PITCH DARK.
he got lost and wandered around the woods all night long bumping into trees, tripping over brush etc.
told me it was PITCH DARK, couldn’t see a inch in front of him all night.
said he found a stream (fell into it) and started slurping the water.
at sunrise he finally came across the road, if you could call it that, really a extremely rocky fire trail.

Earlier that day me and a couple of others went for a walk through the woods, at one point i declared that this is enough, in EVERY direction it looked exactly the same under the autumn yellow leafy trees and demanded we turn back.
Can only imagine what it was like in pitch darkness...

I wouldn't mind coming upon her in the forest.

Maui is 727 square miles. Thousands of jungle covered gullies that are steep as cliffs. Makawao Forest is a popular place for hiking and mountain biking. But you could get lost in a heartbeat.

Could’ve been worse. She could’ve been blond

727 square miles Laz. Makawao Forest is a dense jungle with hundreds of very steep gullies. It is at least 10 miles as the crow flies to the coastline. Buy it.

Ditto that. I’ve been to the interior of Maui and I have no trouble believing this woman’s story. It can be very rugged there with endless tiny pockets surrounded by steep ridges.

Meh. I've videogamed through worse. Far Cry 4 had me in the Himalayas! I managed to grapple and climb and sprint my way through it!

But the "boyfriend" looks neat and clean. Did the BF abandon her there? Very strange...

Not strange if you watch the video. He was with the rescue party and they were just reunited...........

If she was really lost, at most, she would have to walk through 20 miles of woods to arrive to Civilization.

Exactly. How do you lose your shoes. Follow the stream down and she’d have rescued herself by day 3. This whole story smells.

https://www.alltrails.com/trail/hawaii/maui/kahakapao-loop-trail “Kahakapao Loop Trail is a 8.7 kilometer heavily trafficked” The pictures look like it is well marked and a nice wide trail for people and bikes.

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Makawao+Forest+Reserve/@20.8154782,-156.2771449,17z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x7954ca5d0259b127:0x9ba349ec7a423091!8m2!3d20.8320574!4d-156.2753051
Looking at maps, all she had to do was walk west and she’d end up in someone’s backyard within a few feet. Yes, something smells.

Too am glad she was found alive, but it’s no surprise she was lost 16 days. She is a women who normally have a terrible sense of direction (not all).

Ask any normal male over 35 what direction they are traveling...most would know...E W S N

Ask most women, directions are limited to , the grocery store,or the mall...

There’s a huge landmark called the sun which amazingly rises in the east every single morning and sets in the west every single evening.

Look at a map and you’ll see how close the west side of the 8 mile looped trail is to neighborhoods. It takes effort to get lost there.

16 days in the jungle and her shirt likes like she just washed it in Tide.

There was a Brady Bunch looking house across the street from school. I spent more time staring out the windows of math class daydreaming about living there than learning fractions.
