A lot of drugs are grown or manufactured in the Hawaiian jungle. Lots of homeless too. Not a safe place to go wandering.

It is easy to walk around in circles if you can’t see a distant landmark. It is also quite likely she followed the golden rule to stay put until someone finds you. It just took a very long time to be found because the official organized search was called off. I also don’t think she was able to walk much once her shoes fell apart.

I think that Hawaii episode might have been the Brady Bunch "jump the shark" moment.

The premise was that Mike Brady (Dad - architect) was asked by his firm to check on a building in Hawaii. The firm also invites Mike to take his whole damn family along with him on this all-expenses-paid junket - and oh, feel free to take your housekeeper too!

Quite a generous firm!

As a result of growing up with the Brady Bunch, I always felt my family was poor because we didn't have a live-in housekeeper like Alice.

Poor Alice. I don't think she ever got a real vacation. Even in Hawaii, she was making those bratty kids sandwiches and doing their laundry for them.

The title and picture of her at the riverbank look like they are straight out of The Onion.

But if she had disappeared, the poor boyfriend would have been an immediate and probably enduring suspect. Good ending.

She lost her shoes a few days in

I can believe this because the same thing happened to Paulie Walnuts in Pine Barrens.

I know my husband was riding his bike alone around Ulupalakua and was picked up by some locals in their truck. They put him and his bike in the back and started driving around in the cane fields. Scared him almost to death — but he lived to tell about it.
