Everything old is new again. In 1893, 2.5 million pounds of horse manure filled NYC streets per day. I'll bet the cities stank to high heaven. I can remember as a kid growing up in the late 1940s NYC, there were still some horse drawn vehicles about. City employees, using what looked like garbage cans on wheels made the rounds, but the "aroma lingered on".
Unless they bring those guys back, the hot summers are really gone to be fun there.
Frankly I don’t think Europeans’ skin can endure that sun (unless they are from the Mediterranean; the siesta came about because the mid-day sun there is intense as well).
