If Smellitt is so innocent, why did they keep the ten grand and put him on community service? Also, who gets the ten grand?
Especially in light of the fact that Moochelle Obama's previous top aide, Tina Tchen, now a Chicago lawyer, went through Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx to try to get the Chicago Police to turn the case over to the Feds, where it would probably have conveniently been tossed out. When that little bit of info broke in the news, they more than likely decided to use the "community service" work he'd done previously, to toss the charges. Doesn't make it any less corrupt. Nobody gets a break for having previously completed community service that was ordered for a past, unrelated charge. They've opened up a can of worms with this special treatment. Since they've done it for Smollett, they can't NOT do it for other people.
Thanks for the article. Smollett sure has some influential people supporting him. He has a ridiculous amount of privilege — Democrat, celebrity, civil rights worker, and gay. The police didn’t have a ghost of a chance to see him go to trial.
