Some how I can not consider burning the lining of my mouth to be part of the joy of eating. I use the green (Jalapeno) Tabasco Sauce and banana peppers, the less hot yellow ones because they add flavor as well as a little heat. Spicy is fine (for me); hot is not.
But if you enjoy it hot, feel free!
A singing commercial from maybe the 60s:
"For fifteen cents, a nickel and a dime
at Burger Chef you'll eat better every time."
Nice. I used to hit the McDonald’s near the store where I took guitar lessons.
Burger, fries, Coke - all that and change back from $1.
Probably about 1971.
Good one!!!
Burgerville, USA in the Portland/Vancouver area in the early 70’s 19 cents for a burger, 29 cents for a cheeseburger...
Get a burger, shake, and fries for less than $1.
Five Guys today - $8.65 for a bacon cheeseburger.
So I went for the regular cheeseburger, no bacon. Still, $7.65. Yes, even more than the greasy cheeseburger I had at the 50’s place last Friday.
Large cup of fries? $4.99 - just those two items were over $13 with tax - maybe it was $14.
At the 50’s place, two large double-cheeseburgers, large tater tots, small fry, small drink and BIG Coke (burp) - $15.99.
That same meal at Five Guys would have been $23 or $25.
wow
