Again,

Even Adam Smith allowed that Some govt and a few lawyers were needed. The discussion was about how much.

None of us are disagree on the end result. The discussion is the how. The discussion is “we can’t get a perfect fix, what will we live with to get what we REALLY WANT. There is way to much idealism here on FR.

We are up to our necks in law and regulation to fix problems. The market would have found a solution and the situation changed and we are still slaves to a law and that is no longer needed.

I am saying there is danger, be aware of the danger and don’t think your proposal will fix the problem, BECAUSE IT WON’T.

Your discussion again proves to me the answer here just like liberals, is more government.

"More" than what? A moratorium on immigration is not "more government" than limited immigration - just different government. (It is true that regulated immigration is "more government" than open borders; is open borders what you advocate?)

You refuted none of my points, because you could not.

We have regulations and more which you and I either agreed to have, or voted against. Regardless, we are under that burden.

Hiring people for less from elsewhere doesn’t address anything here. It does bring in more people who, if from southern countries, love bigger government and welfare, and from the rest of the world, tend to mirror the political and religious perspectives the rest of the world likes. Do you really think these people, upon becoming permanent residents, are likely to become fiscal conservatives when they become citizens? No other country of consequence is showing “conservatism.”

The Invisible Hand you appear to relish is really a new name for atrophy and anarchy, with our government, since around 1915.

By the way, I have an MBA and, as a teen, bought a doubly-signed copy of “Free To Choose.” Milton and his wife were expressly against the Income Tax, but since it was an amendment, they shifted to other tax penalty concerns.

Milton maintained that free immigration CANNOT HAPPEN when a country promises any minimum level of benefits to its occupants. Why don’t you understand that? We have welfare and unemployment that is shunted to those who are allowed to become “unproductive.” Social Security and Disability payments follow. We have created a “safety net” that has engendered laziness. Bringing in others keeps these people on their situation. We can incentivize them to become productive again by making work look more attractive and reducing the welfare benefits they receive.

Does that mean businesses will have to do some remedial training? Yes, and this is what McDonalds has always has to do. Other companies offer to pay for college or trade school for those who will work for them later.

We need to pick up ourselves by our bootstraps, and the easy way out is what continues to screw us.

We can’t stop immigration nor do we want to

Who is 'we'? You got a turn in your pocket?

'We' can, like 1925 - 1965, and we want to. So take your globalist crap out of here. Sí se puede!

The whole notion that an educated or trained person would forever more be economically useless because they weren’t employed for a year or two or three in the midst of the worst economy since the Great Depression was always ridiculous

Perfect!

Actually controlling or stopping harmful immigration is one of the roles of the fedgov should do with abandon!

Well thanks buddy. I really do thank you for teaching me that there is absolutely no role for common sense or the market place.

I will go to bed and know that conservatives have a law or regulation for everything just like liberals. They cannot stand the idea of freedom and liberty any more than liberals.

I talk with liberals about reducing government and they immedicably view me an anarchist, because I want to reduce government. I get the same thing here. I have stated there is not much difference between liberals and conservatives. What I get from conservatizes is (a quote here on FR, is “but our laws are better.”

This started because I challenged someone on a cockeyed immigration formula based on wages. Shit, all that does is create ANOTHER GOVT BUREACRACY.

We passed the Paper Work Reduction Act under Reagan. Felt good about it. What happened?

Again, thanks to all, I have learned the conservatives have no use for history and are ruled by their emotions.

Hey, I saw you could not refute me, Milton Friedman, or others here, so I wanted to give you one last rebuttal.

There is a fundamental set of laws here called the Constitution. It assures us freedom from the government in many ways and says we are born free.

The country was built on a tariff for nearly all federal government funding. The same government that was so hands off to give us our Constitution said tariffs were the best mechanism for keeping government small while building our own economy.

Please tell us (I know you won’t, because you can’t come up with a single cogent response of substance) how this incredible country did so well with the given Invisible Hand until 1920 or so under a nearly sole federal tax of tariffs? You complain people and products should be brought in from elsewhere for less than the going rate and think THAT is what the Invisible Hand was all about? Burden the rest of US residents and citizens with the costs of government (because tariffs are very small now) while YOU bring in someone or something from the side with no such penalty?

I don’t think so. That has to come to an end. Our country is sovereign and anything from outside has always been optional. You aren’t generally banned from buying it, but it should be charged something more, as our Founders agreed.

conservatives have a law or regulation for everything just like liberals.

Unless you support open borders, you also support law or regulation for immigration. Do you support open borders - or are you a hypocrite?
