“A group of adult dancers says they arent getting a fair shake...”
Note to strippers: You must give a fair shake to get a fair shake.

Domino...now why didn’t I name one of MY girls that? But seriously, that particular “industry”, is rife with abuses of various sorts. I hope come the next election, Domino remembers who’s responsible for the new minimum wage “domino” effect! (pun inadvertent...I guess I could have said cascade, but sure as shootin’, that would probably be the name of one of her co-workers).

They arent employees. They are all independent contractors. Thats why they have to pay the stage fee. They actually have to pay for the privilege of working at the club. Its possible for strippers to actually lose money some days.
To: Fido969
Re-reading the article I note that their pay structure has changed. Usually dancers have been contractors. But mamy clubs look for ways to cheat their dancers in any case. And more sexual harrasment probably comes from management than customers.

I think this is the norm in Hollywood. Management skims tips at clubs, bars, restaurants, sandwich shops, . . . everywhere.
To: BenLurkin
Okay, give them minimum wage and disallow tips.

Shouldn’t it be spelled herassment?
as in ‘herassment more to her than it did to me’..
To: BenLurkin
Even bad strippers make more in tips than wages.

Give them a room with no windows.
Patrons can slip the money under the door.
Kind of like how Congress works.

A lot of The Sopranos took place in a strip club. 99% of the strippers were nasty and plastic. The one decent one got beaten to death.

Now that they are classified as employees, the dancers have a right to unionize, which they plan to utilize
Um, you don't have to be an employee to unionize. As a freelance / subcontractor, you can unionize all you want, it's just gonna get you not used. Or fired, now that you're an employee. Also, is the club actually 'stealing' tips, or is it your dance/BJ money? Because per CA regs, only tips that are voluntarily given are untouchable by the employer. If Joe is paying $20 for a lap dance, that whole amount isn't a tip: the whole amount is $$ paid for a service, so technically it all should go to the company. Who can then give commission. (Or not.)
