Ford F-series trucks have been the best selling trucks for more than 40 years.

Must be from when the Nazi motor pool was provisioned with VWs diverted from the program of the Strength through Joy workers program, who didn’t see a dime of their payroll deductions for each worker to get a family motorcar that could travel at 100 km/hour.

“...European car imports harm US national security...”

Doesn’t make a lick of sense.

Ford doesn’t have much competition with the German pick-up truck industry.

Not everyone can afford an over priced wheelbarrow.

I have been calling BS on this for years. If you combine GMC and Chevrolet trucks- I bet F-150 has been coming in second for many decades.

I remember seeing the Videos of all those F-150’s zooming past the Mercedes 500’s on the Autobahn. Well, maybe not.

For the truth of factual information: What are the USA tariffs on German cars coming into the USA, and what are the German tariffs on USA cars coming into Germany. If the 2 tariffs rates are identical then there is no problem.

This American wants to know, where is their navy? Europe is run by an effeminate bunch of bums who cannot understand that the gravy train paid for by American taxpayers is over for Europe.

All of the comments about American pickups could be on to something. I would think that there is a market in Europe for American made work vehicles that can do jobs that those little Euro trucks and just cannot handle. Sure, the cost of gas would make operating them expensive, but I am not aware of anything made in Europe that can come close to what even a base level pickup can do. Urban cowboys driving on narrow European streets couldn’t use them, but farmers would eat them up, as would people in heavy construction or even tradesmen who need a big SUV or full sized van for their stuff. Lower tariffs would create a new market for our best selling vehicles.

““...European car imports harm US national security...”

Yes it does, if predatory trade practices of adversarial nations hollow out your industrial base then you can’t support your own military because you don’t make anything.

Tariffs work. Up until socialist scumbags implemented the federal income tax in the 1920s the federal government was entirely funded by tariff revenue. Using tariffs to protect our industry America went from a agricultural colony on the edge of the known world to a industrial super power in less than a hundred years.

They don’t buy many small trucks (1/2 ton) in Germany, at least I didn’t see any the week I was out there. Probably due to gas prices.

So this, from the article, is just BS?

“German car companies were responsible for more than 113,000 jobs at some 300 factories in the United States and were the biggest exporters of cars in the country, it said.”

There is already a European Niche for American Muscle Cars so why not Pickup Trucks? The Powerplants in the newer Pickup Trucks, like the Ford Ecotech V-6 using a Turbo provide hefty HP and TQ with great Gas Mileage.

The 2014 Redesign of the Ford Mustang was intended to get a foothold into the European Market, so why not their Pickups?

There it is.

Once again, “...if predatory trade practices of adversarial nations hollow out your industrial base then you can’t support your own military because you don’t make anything.”

“113,000 jobs at some 300 factories in the United States”

Refers to sub-contractor factories making components like water pumps, switches and alternators for German cars built (assembled) here
