“Kinda like fishing ... put food in front of a hungry fishs mouth and .....”
I had a vegetarian tell me a fish is a dumb animal so it is OK to eat. I told her the steak is from a retarded cow.
“It does seem odd and this is the first I’ve ever heard of this approach.”
Countries all over are doing this. The thing is that the locals nearby use to just go poach them for something to eat. But now they stop others from poaching because they know they can make more money as hunt guides. This gives them a vested interest in maintaining the herds. Heck even Canada does something similar with the hunting deep in the Canadian Rockies.
“He took a hike. Big Fing deal....
and thats after his mode of transportation(helicopter or whatever) couldnt go any farther.”
You have no clue what you are talking about. My brother in law did a similar hunt in the Rockies. It was brutal. He lost 15 pounds in a week and ad a former marine it is not like that was ‘excess weight’. Yeah you have to fly in because there aren’t any roads. And a ‘hike’ as you call it is mountain climbing. It isn’t like there is some national park paved trail to your shot. Your scrambling over rocks 100% of the time. There isn’t any level ground in a place like that, and what looks like level ground is actually a kind of high altitude marshland. And as for an easy shot. In that territory the skittish mountain animals can see you coming for miles. It is a heck of a lot of work to get ANY kinda shot.
There is a reason why you hired a guide for this sort of hunt, because you DO need a mountain man handy just to get up there and back. Other kinds of hunting are cake walks compared to going after mountain goats in the high country.
