Probably some other asshole would have taken his place.
I’m re-reading THE RISE AND FALL OF THE THIRD REICH and it shows Hitler as a typical socialist, who had an aversion to working for a living, so he basically was a tramp or bum in Vienna. Like “Cousin Eddie, he was holding out for a management position, of people.
As some Germans said of him...”From drummer boy to Dictator.” in one step.
Patton called him a paper-hanging son of a bitch. As a youngster Hitler apprenticed as a wallpaper hanger.
If I am not mistaken, the US government in archives has many of Hitler’s paintings.
But nobody said a bad vord about Winston Churchill, did they? Oh no, Vin Vit Vinnie! Churchill, vit his cigars, vit his brandy and his rotten paintings, rotten! Churchill . . . he couldnt even say Nazi. He would say Narzis, Narzis. Ve vere not Narzies, ve vere Nazis. But let me tell this, and youre getting it straight from the horse, Hitler vas better looking than Churchill, he vas a better dresser than Churchill, had more hair, told funnier jokes, and could dance the pants off Churchill!
He was also a war hero, winning the Iron Cross First Class in 1918.
After having won the Iron Cross Second Class in 1917.
Psychopaths have absolutely no fear.
And a relatively accomplished artist.
His oratory skills are renowned to all who study that art/science. He is often thought to be the gold standard.
“Happy Clouds, Happy Trees, Happy Mountains”
What? no happy little bushes ....
When he was in the trenches in WWI, Hitler found that the ends of his moustache prevented his gas mask from making a good seal to his face. So the cut the ends until the mask fit, giving him the button moustache we are used to seeing.
Pretty good, in a jigsaw puzzley way.
I honestly don’t remember everything he called happy. But he was a pretty happy guy during a happy era, so I’m going to guess everything he painted was happy. lol
But I know he served 20 years in the Airforce prior.
Although he wasn't admitted to the Vienna academy of fine arts, Hitler was admitted to a prestigious architecture school on account of a promising portfolio, but the admission was rescinded when it was found that he had no high school diploma (being a drop-out).
If I remember right he was advised to be an architect, since his technical drawing and painting skills were found wanting. He always had a keen interest in architecture all the way through his plans for a new Berlin, but I guess he rejected architecture as a profession.
Explains his fondness for Albert Speer.
Very much so. Germania, Hitlers idea for a new Berlin:

Albert Speer was one of the great con men of the twentieth century with his little act. Should have hung with the rest of them.
One of the more interesting of the bunch was Otto Skorenzsky, the daredevil who led the rescue of Mussolini when he was deposed. Mossad actually recruited him after the war.
