I was paraphrasing Will Rogers (a movie star from 1930s), who said “I am not a member of any organized political party. I am a Democrat.”

I think the ineptness of the incumbent is an excellent demonstration of that. He just took his seat for granted and ignored everything so this stupid girl only had to get little over half of the 10% turnout primary to get her seat. She likes to pretend otherwise, but it is really just only ~15k votes that got her there.

Years ago I worked, in the late 70's, I worked in a construction union in the Bronx. In an area that was called ‘’Fort Apache’’. These were the REALLY bad old days in NYC. The area was almost entirely Puerto Rican. In talking to a good many of them they believed the government owed them just about everything sustenance of life, for free. Some of the more radical among them believed it was, for some inarticulated reason because white people ‘’owed them’’.

It is often assumed otherwise, but the data shows these were the rich white people, who gave her this primary win. It wasn’t a hot contest. It was forgotten by everyone. I looked up the exact D primary turnout and it was just 11.8%.
