Is a plea deal a conviction? yes, of course it is. Normally the only advantage to a deal is the punishment is not a severe as it could have otherwise been. But "guilty" is guilty.

Flynn is not giving the judge a choice. Says he wants to plead guilty even though the judge raised concerns about the guilty plea

“Judge Sullivan is going thru defense filing, says it raised concerns about whether Flynn still wanted to plead guilty. Flynn lawyer Rob Kelner says they aren’t contesting false statements guilty plea as a result of any misconduct by FBI.” -Evan Perez

The judge twice asked Gen Flynn and his lawyers if they wanted to withdraw the guilty plea. Flynn answered “I would like to proceed your honor.” And the judge announced he’ll accept the plea. What else could he do?
