The author seems to suggest that the weakening of the "glue" is somehow the result of conservatives abandoning the traditional rules of civility and representative democracy. But the reality is that the left has been programmatically dismantling Western Civilization for 50 years or more, and what is happening now is that large numbers of people are waking up to that fact.

I can think of another batch of French people that felt left behind by a globalizing world. The year was 1940, the place was Dunkirk. The French that felt left behind were the French soldiers as they watched the BEF escape along with a few thousand of their French comrades. The globalizing event was Hitler trying to create a one world government (Japan and Germany eventually would have fought if Hitler prevailed in Europe)

WWII threats were invading armies. Today’s threats are 5th columns destroying from within. Globalization means tyranny, no matter how soft it’s peddled.

If you parse the above, he is saying "does the globalization we have worked for survive?"

The author misreads nearly everything.

That 2500 years old discussion is the most succinct and wise explication of governance ever.
Only our Founders' discussions of how to form a balanced cocktail of the best of these forms of government transcends its wisdom- at the cost of brevity though.

The entire article is a mash-up of words and random, incoherent ideas and thoughts. Is there a thesis in this mess? I cannot discern one. What, exactly, is the author trying to say?
