That’s understandable. Both the president and first lady have been very wealthy for a very long time. Him, all of his life.
Unless it’s the grandchildren making cookies or construction paper birthday cards for him, he probably doesn’t expect a lot of material things for such dates. The president definitely has a taste for the finer things in life, but he can usually get those on his own.
To some close associates that he sees all the time,

I just can’t get used to those fitted suits. They always look like they shrank. LOL

This reminds me of a story one of the guys at the BMW dealership told me. Some guy had come in and bought a new bike for his birthday present. He stated that he had wanted one for years. The man was well known in the area and wealthy to the point that any bike would have been pocket change to him. The salesman asked why he hadn’t purchased one earlier in that case. Ends up he had a list of “presents” scheduled for the future, that way he always had something to look forward to. Kind of an interesting attitude.
