“Jack rabbit” starts are the norm here in the San Fran Bay Area. “How fast can I get to that red light up there?” is the order of the day. Having made it to my sixties, I want to slow life down and be sedate, so I use gentle starts and see if I can hit the next light when it turns green. I usually arrive at the changing light just when Mr. Jackrabbit is blasting off again.
It’s great fun to keep catching up to him at every light. My mileage is probably double his.
Cracks me up that people want carbon taxes and sky high fuel prices to “save the earth,” but they won’t change their driving habits one bit.
The driving test cycle you wrote about is about as unrealistic as possible.
You bring up an interesting point. Just like food, alcohol, dope, weapons, and now cars, the government is slowly becoming our parents to determine our safety and security without asking us. It has little to do with making money, which it does. It is an effort toward control. I thought when “they” established adulthood at 18 years old, they said they were going to back off on the control for their “childrens’ safety.” And the hits just keep coming.

This, plus France’s $7.00 gasoline is their big chance to SAVE THE WORLD !!!
Have at it Europe - this is it !!!
Show everyone you care !!!
(and they laugh at Trump for not being a ‘world-player’, guess they’re not laughing so much now)
Y'know what goes with higher taxes? More higher taxes, duh!
Actually Jack Rabbit starts, or at least moderately heavy acceleration has been proven to be more fuel efficient than slowly accelerating, as it allows the car to get into steady-state operation much sooner (i.e., constant speed).
Obviously, though, testing one’s braking distance at every traffic light does not help.
The only steady state operation in the Bay Area is idling at stop lights.
“Y’know what goes with higher taxes?”
I call it more voter corralling program funding for welfare and illegals hiding efforts so they can maintain their voting base. They have money. They need more power.
They knew they were going to lose the POTUS slot this last one just by appearance turnouts alone. Thus they concentrated on one house in congress so they could stall, or derail with rhino help, the Trump agenda one media blitzed program at a time.
And with the help of the media, they can keep all the voters uncomfortable with a conservative president until they can get another wannabe in the polls. Been doing the same thing for decades with presidents like Reagan and both Bushes. Yet it was calm and great during the Clinton and Obama time frame even though we know it was corrupt and damaging to the US.
