There had been some very small soft stool in a pool of mucusy liquid left on the floor in a few places
I had the new kitten pegged as the culprit until I saw Jack producing one.
That along with his weight loss concerned me enough to immediately take him to the vet today.
The vet doesn't see him making it past Christmas :(
erratum- 3-years-old. He was born Nov/2015
An orange kitteh. I’ll bet he’s a real sweetie.
And only two years old!
Love on him for all he’s worth. If he’s dying you want his last weeks filled with comfort and love.
.
Get grass juice at the healthfood store, and feed him with a small syringe. do it until he has more normal bowels.
Also get fresh juniper berries to crush and make a tea in boiling water. Let it cool completely and give him about 6 eye droppers full twice per day for a few days.
It will cause him to urinate profusely, which will take the load off of his kidneys.
We quit taking our cats to the vet about 15 years ago. They never seemed to be particularly helpful.
Dear kanawa,
I am truly sorry. The loss of a furbaby is hard enough, let alone around the holidays.
I’ll give it a try.
I was concerned about my cats out-living me, never thought I would lose one so soon.
His sister was living with me.
She is a calico and I had named her Cali
but when her brother Jack came to live with us
you know I just had to change her name to Jill. :)
Prayers for your beautiful companion and yourself.
Where's Jack?
.
Now you have to move “up the hill.”
Yep, made use of that little rhyme more than once :)
Yep, I listened calmly and carefully to what the vet had to say
but when I got out to the van and was alone it really hit me hard.
I am so sorry for what you are going through, lost one to FIP in 2002. Lost my orange cat last monday, 10/22, to cancer.
Prayers up for you both.
So sorry.
Put our ol’ girl down today. 17. She had cancer and renal failure. I’ve made that decision many times in my life....and it never gets any easier.
Like I said to my boys. She is in Kitty Heaven....at an all-you-can-eat squirrel buffet. She loved those things! Great hunter. Great friend and comforter.
My heart goes out to you. Orange cats in my experience are remarkably gentle and affectionate.
This was totally unexpected to me. I was unaware of this disease.
What symptoms did your cat in 2002 exhibit that set off warning bells to you?
Im so sorry for what you are going through. I have lost two of my fur babies because of FIP. It is a terrible disease.
I am sorry.
Life can be so bittersweet.
I had to let go of my dog Sam in June of last year
and now this unexpected terminal illness of Jack.
Makes me chuckle when the cats return to proudly show off the results of their hunt.
I had never heard of it before today.
I thought perhaps he had a parasite
or something more benign than this death sentence disease.
Thanks, Glennb51.
Does the 51 stand for your year of birth?
If so, we were born in the same year.
